Hi, and welcome! I’m so glad you’re here.
I’m a National Board Certified math teacher and instructional leader with a Master’s in Secondary Education. Over the past fifteen years, I’ve coached teachers, led instructional teams, and developed resources that actually work in the chaos of real classrooms. I’ve also had the honor of receiving several teaching awards, but honestly, what matters most to me is helping educators feel supported and successful — even when they’re in the weeds.
In my 15 years in education I’ve taught and led in K-8s, Middle Schools, and High Schools, led school-based teams, and been part of two successful school turnaround efforts. I’ve worked in both affluent schools and under-resourced, urban Title I schools—and I’ve seen firsthand the ways the system can both inspire and exhaust the people in it.
Education is imperfect. It’s ever-changing. It’s increasingly difficult to recruit for, harder to retain in, and constantly shifting under our feet.
And still—it’s the only field I want to be in.
Because despite the challenges, despite the noise, the mandates, and the politics… this work is still changing lives. Students still need great teachers. Teachers still need real support.
That’s why I started In the Weeds Edu—a newsletter for educators who are still in it.
Whether you’re managing the chaos of end-of-year testing, trying to plan meaningful lessons during the final stretch, or leading a team of teachers through tough conversations, trying to create a PLC that is productive, or any other of the many things teachers and leaders do—I’m here to share what’s worked for me and what I’ve learned along the way.
This Substack is a space for real talk, real strategies, and real solutions. I’ll be sharing:
Practical classroom tips that don’t add to your workload
Ready-to-use ideas that help students engage and succeed
Reflections on leadership, instruction, and what’s actually working
Free tools and previews of resources available in my TpT store
Whether you’re a new teacher trying to find your footing or a seasoned educator looking for fresh ideas, you’ll find support and encouragement here. My goal is to help you reclaim your time, your energy, and your love for teaching.
Thanks for subscribing — and if you know a teacher who could use a boost, feel free to share this with them.
Let’s grow together, even in the weeds.
